When I purchased a television set for my child’s room, I knew that I could not just sit it on a table. The television would not last long not broken that way! So then I noticed the television at her occupational therapist’s office, it was connected high up on the wall. Not only saving playroom space but safe from prying hands that could knock it over. Exactly what I needed for her room. So I searched for the cheapest television mount and found this one brand new on Ebay. It has been a wonderful unit over the past few years, keeping the television safe from my daughter and my daughter safe from a falling television.
One thing that I didn’t expect right off the bat, this unit is very heavy! It takes considerable strength to lift up the tv mount above your head to place it where you want it to go on the wall. It will take at least two people to install it. When searching for a tv mount, you have to consider a number of factors. The maximum weight for this one is 70 pounds and the maximum size is 21″. There are different tv mounts with different specifications if you have a larger tv set to place on it. Mine is silver in color and made of heavy metal with thick plastic pieces and black straps. A lifetime warranty ensures a commitment to excellence.
Another consideration will be placement. The television has to be placed near the cable outlet/cords and where it can be plugged in. It also has to be placed INTO a stud so it will hold up to the maximum weight! The instructions say to test this by pulling down on the bracket to ensure it is in a stud and won’t fall. One issue we had was my daughter’s bedroom had low ceilings and people were bumping into it! We put it into a corner but it can be placed anywhere that best suits your needs. 11″ x 19″ x 10″ are the measurements of this tv mount.
The instructions show a visual walk-through for those who hate to read instructions, every screw is shown where it should go. There are no words to the instructions, only figures and pictures. This item meets American, European, and International Standards. You will need a screwdriver, hammer, wrench, 5/32″ screws, and 3/8″ screws to install it. Once installed, the television can be swiveled from side to side and tipped down slightly without tools! The straps ensure the tv will not slip. It does not have the hidden cords accessory so the cords from the television go behind and down the wall.
A PVC pipe can be used for this in a kid’s room so they do not try to climb the cords or play Tarzan! Installation takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. Finding a stud and figuring out placement may be the hardest part of it besides lifting the television up on it. Installation is not that difficult to do but does take arm strength and help…someone to hold it up while another places the screws in. It comes in 19 pieces. A full picture of the installation is shown and then step by step picture instructions are shown. Letters correlate to the different items needed to place where. The tv is placed on and the straps around it, tightening the straps tightly. It looks precarious as it might fall any minute but the little lip to the ledge and the straps keep it securely in place.
A wonderful item that we could not live without! I would not feel a television was safe in my daughter’s room without it. Now she can’t pull the tv down on her nor knock it off accidentally. I do not like the cords hanging from it so put a PVC pipe to cover them. The tv can be turned with a remote control or manually as usual. I paid $50 for this item and it was well worth it! Watch tv in bed and you won’t get a crick in your neck! Have more room by mounting your tv on the wall!
